The Study Skills Center offers classes for all grades and for a wide range of abilities. The courses are designed to improve students' reading comprehension, vocabulary, and study skills.
Students will receive help in any subject with which they are struggling; emphasis will be on reading comprehension of materials in all curriculum areas. Mini-lessons will be presented on a wide variety of instructional skills and strategies.
Reading specialists will present those skills that are necessary for success in the Global History I, Global History II, United States History and English classes,such as: *time management *organization *vocabulary development *analytical and critical reading/thinking/writing *active listening *test-preparation strategies *test-taking approaches *detail writing from expository material and observations *cooperative reading-learning *graphic and visual aids for comprehending both fiction and non-fiction materials and to better grasp the fundamentals of systematic observation, scientific thinking, problem solving, science vocabulary, science concepts, and interpreting reference tables
